Who Says You Can't?

Have you ever felt like you could not do something, that you were not good enough or did not have the qualifications it would take to complete a task?

Have you felt like others could do it better because they had more knowledge, experience, skill, charisma, etc...?

I think we would be fooling ourselves if we would say the we have not felt that way at some point in our lives. Some of us more than others. That being said I want to share a thought with you that I heard recently.

Let's travel back in time a few years and look at Moses.

He was instructed to go back to Egypt and and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Exodus 3:11 - He is saying I don't have the ability, who am I?

Exodus 3:13 - He tells God he doesn't know what to say

Exodus 4:1 - I don't have any authority who is going to believe me?

Exodus 4:10 - I am not a good speaker

And finally in Exodus 4:13 - Lord please just send someone else.

Excuses are awful, but we say them everyday. We will find an excuse to not do something which in turn keeps us fro doing what God has asked us to do.

Some of our modern day areas that we tend to make a lot of excuses

  • Witness to someone about the goodness of God

  • Teach a Home Bible Study

  • Invite someone to come to church with you

  • Give of your time and money to the kingdom of God

  • Being faithful to the house of God

  • and the list cold go on and on and on ...

Benjamin Franklin once said "He who is good at making excuses is rarely good for anything else"

We need to be stronger than our excuses. Philippians 4:13 says "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." That tells me if I am living the right life, serving God the way I should then I can do ALL things, which in turn means I have no excuse to not do something I know I should be doing or that God has called me to do.

Think about all the time we waste coming up with excuses. If we would spend that time doing what we are trying to excuse ourself from think about the effect that could have on those around us.

Change your mindset, your way of thinking. Stop thinking that it is Impossible and realize it IS possible.

Luke 1:37 "For nothing will be impossible with God.”

Make a decision today to stop with the excuses. Stop trying to compare yourself to someone else and telling yourself that you could never do it as good as them. I know, I know easier said than done.

But let me tell you something when you start living in the positive attitude of I CAN instead of the negative attitude of I CAN'T you will find that many areas in your life will change. Not just the thing you were trying to create excuses for but you will find that the positivity will grow on you and you will see yourself in a different light.

Who ready to throw the excuses out the window and really start doing what God is calling you to do?
