Use It or Lose It

I have had issues with my back and right leg for quite some time and finally decided to go to Physical Therapy to see if I could make progress on relieving the pain and gaining strength and stability. Things are progressing right along and for that I am excited but that is not what I want to talk about today. I want to talk about exercising in the Spirit. We all live busy lives and most of us are probably running from one thing to the next without very much time in between (Life has a way of doing that). There is nothing wrong with a busy life, the problem comes when we neglect our Spiritual walk.

Just as I had neglected taking care of my back and leg when things started I began to lose mobility and strength, and sometimes the the pain was so intense. Had I been on top of things It may not have gotten as bad as it did.

The same is true Spiritually, If we neglect the Word of God, Prayer, exercising out faith and doing what we know should be done we can lose the strength that we once had in God. Our mobility starts to fade and we start questioning "IF" we can do something for God.

So how can we excercise our Faith? Well I am glad you asked. Romans 10:17 says

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Simply put....more Word of God....more Faith.

So how can we Exercise our Faith?

Wait on the Lord - Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Really? Waiting is exercise? Yes it is. It is in those times of waiting that we should find ourselves getting a fresh energy.

Trust in the strength of the Lord, not in yourself. Ephesians 6:10 "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might." Make sure the the steps we are taking are in the strength of the Lord not in our impatience as we are "waiting"...

Focus on God. Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Most of the time where we get ourselves in trouble is when we lose focus on where we should be focused.

I am sure you have heard the saying "Use it or Lose it". That can apply to our physical bodies AND it can apply Spiritually. If we do not use "exercise" what God has given us then how can we expect to gain strength, knowledge and understanding for the things of God? Do you desire to have more Faith?
